Creation of Adam (A.S)

All three major religions of the world, Islam, Christianity and Judaism recognise and believe that the first man created by Allah, the Lord of the Worlds was Hazarat Adam (may peace be upon him).

Almighty Allah reveal in the Last Testament AL-QUR'AN that first Allah created Adam and from him created his partner Eve and from them two created multitude of men and women to spread over the earth. Everything in the heavens and the earth is created by Allah.

The Qur'an reveals the story of Adam. "And when thy Lord said unto the angels: LO! I am about to place a VICEROY in the earth, they said: Will Thou place therein one who will do harm therein and shed blood, while we hymn Thy praise and sanctify Thee? He said: Surely I know that which you know not".(2:30)

Al-Qur'an reveals the supreme ceremony performed by Angels and the Jinns at the command of Allah at the time when spirit was blown into Adam to make him alive.

"Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered. And the Jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angles: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered. So when i have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit,...... do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him.

So the angels fell prostate, all of them together, Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou are not among the prostrate? He said: Why should I prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou has created out of potter's clay of black mud altered?" (15:26-33)

It is noted from the tradition of prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) that there was nothing in the beginning but Allah (then He created His throne).

His throne was over the water, and He wrote everything in the Book (in the heaven) and created the heavens and the earth. There is no Scriptural revelation to support that the creation of Throne, or the creation of heavens and the earth or even the creation of angels was ritually celebrated.

When Almighty Allah subhanahu wa Ta'ala told angels:"Surely I known that which you know not", angels did not argue their point any further because they realised the purpose of creation of Adam was more complex than their original views. In order to strengthen the ritual position of Adam in the creation and in particular to the Angels and Jinn Almighty taught Adam all the names and when the same were shown to angles to inform openly if they knew them.

"They Said: Be Glorified! We have no knowledge saving that which Thou has taught us. Lo! Thou, only Thou, are the Knower, the Wise".(2:31) He said: O Adam! Inform them of their names, and when he had informed them of their names, He said: Did I not tell you that I know the secret of the heavens and the earth? And I know that which you disclose and that which hide. (2:33)

This was a breif and first encouter of man with the angels. The angels fully recognised and confessed to the superiority of Hazarat Adam prevailed through the knowledge possessed by Adam of all things.

My understanding of this is that the knowledge of all things whether secular or spritual is within man and it evolves at various stages of universal cycle of life. This evolution of knowledge is neither of the East nor of the West, it is independent of direction and territorial boundaries.
